Origin

One of the first drawings I did after high school. Of course like any 18 year old male.I did want to just draw any o female. Thats when I would try to pay attention to what my younger brother hated. My younger brother has always been concerned about tying to fit in to the popular crowd. He jumped into a local trend of never date anyone in your own race. So he distanced himself from white women. So I I knew the majority of the women I would draw would be white. Then I overheard a comment my brother made about women who dye there hair wild colors,  pierce  there face and get tattoos where no more than freaks of nature. Ironicly, I was really into girls like that. So that what I would draw. I would continue to draw for the next 5 years. in various types. Portraits and nudes.

The source photo for this particular drawing was quite small. But I have to say there was quite an a improvement from the original drawing

Untitled

This was another one of those photos that I randomly picked to to draw in mid 2003. When I recently redrew and colored this I noticed that this drawing reminded me of a dear friend's son Tristan. Other than this there wasn't really any other back story to this drawing.

If anyone can come up with a title for this, by all means let me know.

Seen it all

One of the first portraits I did after I had started dating my wife in 2003. The deal was to continue to draw, just no more nude portraits that I have been used doing in the last 5 years. So I just grabbed a mountain of random stock photos the first being...

When I look back, I find this drawing interesting because about three years prior to drawing this, I was studying witchcraft . My teacher at the time had asked me to look into my hands when I was asleep and was aware that I was dreaming. When this happen not only did I look at my hands. I was also in front of a mirror and looked at my face. My face in the dream was not from what this face looks like.

Other that relating this to my dream, when I see this face, I see a man who has probably been through a lot and has seen it a lot. He is probably a fountain of information.

The sad thing is that I'm sure a lot of younger people would see this and just see a dirty, old, ugly man.

I noticed still that the hardest part of drawing older people is the grey hair. You can obviously tell that after seven years I'm still struggling with that detail

Digging up the past.

If you didn't notice I have not been posting any new entries for the past month. That's because I have had my head clouded by all sorts of things mainly thinking about my daughter who will be born next month. Even mentioning it now, has me excited to the point of tears. Happy ones.

I also came across an old Deviantart account that has really old artwork of mine. For some reason the link is broken. Otherwise Id post the link for you all to look for yourself. If you can just look up LordoftheLost. I think that I have not used that account in so long that I need to re-confirm the E-mail I used. Well, the plan is to take all that stuff re draw them now that I have drastically improved. Some of them I will even color.

I have three categories for them
1. 1998-2003: All the stuff I did immediately after High School. Which are of pinup girls some of them even are nudes. Originally the intention was to study the female form because I couldn't draw women for the life of me. Then it became the only thing I was drawing. All my male friends where interested. Then it just became a habitual subject to draw. I guess that is what happens when your 18 your trying to appeal to yourself or the demographic of lonely guys.
2. 2003-2010 When my wife and I finally got together, She asked that I draw no more naked ladies, or at least don't get stock subjects from the internet. So I decided to just stop drawing then all together. I just grabbed whatever for subjects and it gave me the opportunity to study other things.
3.2003-current. Thing that I have done since I have moved to Montana. The direction I went since moving has drastically changed. I will like have these done when I take a break from redrawing the old stuff.
In between the first two I did some mock comic book covers for my comic book "I am Grimm" When I moved to Montana, I scrapped doing the cover art for a book that had no direction.

So, Soon I will be putting up new stuff from the past. Hope you all enjoy.

Goro

O.K. Let me explain this one. The dream I had was of my wife's ex boyfriend was walking down the street I lived on. The bizarre part was that he had four arms.

I would have drawn just that, but I have this thing about being thought of unoriginal. I felt if I drew up my dream and claimed it as something I thought of myself. I would immediately be called a liar.
There already was a well know character with four arms

I am quite a Mortal Kombat fan. So, I was well aware of who Goro was. The last thing I wanted was some guff from the guys I admire plus I modeled my art style from John Tobias

So instead of doing my own four armed character, I simply did "fan" art of Goro.

Margaret Cho

Part two of my none nude Asian fest. Two naked Asian girls running around hiding from there father and trying to get me to sleep with them was no a marketable drawing. So I opted to draw two of the most attractive Asian celebrities (in my opinion).

My second pick was Margaret Cho. Ive always liked her although many people shunned her for her weight. But if you know me, You would know that I'm far from shallow. She has long since overcame that issue and has since acquired  some tattoos. Which this particular drawing was the first time I actually spent some time on someone's ink.

Lucy Liu

This beauty was derived from a dream I had where I was being seduced  by two nude Asian women. Contrary to what it seems, nude portraits are not very marketable so I try to refrain from doing nudity unless it is requested. It also keeps my wife from decapitating me.

Instead of drawing two nude Asians, I chose to draw two  portraits of a celebrity of Asian decent. I compiled a short list and picked the two. One being Lucy Liu. My wife finds her unattractive, but I seem to think she is very beautiful. After all she is half Irish.

Shep

The final piece of Montana art (for now) was of the Fort Benton folk hero Shep
Shep was the name given to a herding dog that appeared at the Great Northern Railway station one day in 1936 in Fort Benton, Montana. The dog first appeared at the station when a casket was being loaded on a train heading to the eastern USA. When the train left, the dog kept coming back to the station for every incoming train after that.

This wasn't my greatest drawing. It was a bit difficult to draw due my references where only thumbnails.

The Historic Square Butte Jail

One of the population's attractions the Square Butte jail. It was next on my Geraldine to do list.

You would of thought I drawn this poorly, but no. The jail Actually looks like this. I believe they built the jail out of some sort of granite. Yes, I do intend on coloring this although It would apper that not much color will be needed.

REQUEST: The Undertaker II

My roommate is a die hard Undertaker fan and this is the second drawing I have done for her tat depicts him.
This was during Undertaker's "American Bad-ass" biker gimmick. between 2000 and 2003

Buck

When learn about what appeals to Geraldine artistically, I learn that most of the population's hobbies where hunting. The animals I hear about the most are Elk and Deer
One of my roommates has a subscription to the hunting magazine, "Field and stream". When he was finished with the magazine I had clipped out the page that had this full page buck. During the process of drawing this, My roommate had informed my that I was drawing a trophy class buck due to the amount of horns on the deer. This will eventually be colored.

Introduction and First post (Milwaukee Depot)

If your reading this then I thank you for taking the time to do so. Up until several months ago, My artwork has usually been bizarre, morbid or just plain unexplainable. I am usually asked the question "Why do you draw that stuff?"  Back then, I never really gave a straight answer. Until now. I have become comfortable explaining the back stories of my artwork. I will begin with more recent works of art and then go into my backlog of art. Why? Well between the years 2000 into late 2002, most of my artwork was thrown away or destroyed. I have not redrawn them up until now. With the acquisition of a stylus I can redraw a few of them in full color. Once I get through explaining the recent I will dreg up the past drawings as they are finished being redrawn.

My first post is of the Milwaukee Depot
When I moved to the town of Geraldine, Montana, word had spread about my artwork. I did a bit of feedback from my roommates and some of the town's residents. They all suggested that if I wanted to turn a profit that I draw landmarks in Geraldine and in the surrounded cities. I took heed after I visited a local art teacher who claimed that my work is most likely worth thousands. However, my subject in my work would not go over in the town that I reside in. Which mostly consists of the elderly. I saw her point I do not exactly seeing any elderly person buying a drawing of a flaming head living in a industrial heater. To show that she had faith in my artwork, She gave me a stack full of light professional art paper that if touched, the oils in my skin would smear any of the led that I applied to the paper. Which I used that exact paper for this particular drawing. The depot originally had there industrial elevators behind the building, But my roommate suggested that I not include the elevators in this drawing. I took her advise and erased the line sketch before I actually the detailed work. I finished this on August 18 of this year. I had originally named this, "The Geraldine Depot" However I recently learned that the building is actually called the Milwaukee Depot. So, I had the name changed. I do plan on drawing and coloring a version in which the elevator are included.  I also have plans on having this colored.
